Campaign aginst military service

In 2026, the German Peace Society – United War Resisters (DFG-VK), together with the Care for Future Foundation, launched a nationwide campaign promoting conscientious objection to military service as a human right and a peaceful alternative to militarization. The campaign visited almost 20 cities in Baden-Württemberg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, using information stands, banners, music, a four-metre inflatable rifle, and a coffin prop to attract public attention.

The tour reached a wide range of people, including young adults facing military registration, soldiers, reservists, families, and older people concerned about growing military tensions. Many conversations were respectful and constructive, although some encounters also reflected increasing militarization in society. Local peace initiatives and activists supported the campaign in numerous cities, strengthening networks and helping establish new contacts and activities.
