Workshops at the 17th National Congress of MediBüros

12–13 September 2026, Hamburg

On 12–13 September 2026, over 70 activists from Germany’s MediBüros and MediNetze gathered in Hamburg for their 17th national congress. These volunteer-run, independent initiatives support people without health insurance, regardless of residence status, with free, anonymous medical care. Their work is funded by donations and provides essential access to healthcare for marginalized groups.

Thanks to the generous support of the Care for Future Foundation, the congress offered a diverse program focused on networking, skills-sharing, best practices, and activist empowerment.

One workshop addressed deportations from hospitals, exploring their psychological impact and discussing legal safeguards and practical measures healthcare professionals can take to protect patients and prevent premature treatment termination.

Another highlight focused on self-care in activism. Activists supporting people in difficult circumstances often experience stress and helplessness when confronting authorities and political barriers. Led by a psychologist and an educator from Centra Hamburg, participants reflected on recognizing stress, developing coping strategies, and identifying personal resources.
