Networking Meeting of the Emancipatory Agriculture Network (ELAN)
September 2026
In September 2026, the Emancipatory Agriculture Network (ELAN) held its annual networking meeting in Volzendorf, Wendland, Germany. ELAN is an open network for women, lesbians, trans, inter, non-binary and agender people (FLINTA*) working across agriculture. It addresses gender inequalities and intersectional issues, including racism, queerphobia, seasonal labour, the rise of right-wing politics and the climate crisis.
Almost 100 participants gathered for four days of exchange, practical skill-sharing and collective learning. More than 20 activities took place, including workshops on chainsaw maintenance, welding, communication, white supremacy culture and strategies against the far right. Participants also shared responsibility for everyday tasks, practising collective care and self-organisation.
With support from the Care for Future Foundation, the programme included workshops and excursions exploring diverse approaches to agriculture and community life.
The meeting strengthened relationships, encouraged mutual support and generated ideas for future cooperation, connecting feminist agricultural practices with broader struggles for social and environmental justice.
