Speech training for media makers in the climate movement

In spring 2026, activists and media makers from the climate movement gathered in Berlin for a speech training organized by the KLIMANEWS association and supported by the Care for Future Foundation. The aim was to communicate messages more clearly, persuasively, and effectively—an essential skill in volunteer-based activism.

In a joint training session, participants developed the fundamentals of professional speaking: breathing techniques, voice control, resonance, and finding an appropriate speaking pitch. This was complemented by exercises on pronunciation, emphasis, pauses, and speaking freely. In subsequent one-on-one coaching sessions, participants received individualized feedback.

The workshop was led by experienced speech trainer Anna Strittmatter, who has already worked with renowned institutions. She tailored the training specifically to the needs of activists who want to communicate their topics professionally and convincingly.

Participants included members of the KLIMANEWS podcast as well as activists from various climate organizations. The training strengthens the quality and reach of the podcast while also enhancing communication skills across the movement.

Feedback was consistently positive: many participants felt more confident speaking shortly afterward. Trainings like this make an important contribution to ensuring that the voices of the climate movement are heard.
